Description
Immerse yourself in the Mastery of Oil Painting
Oil painting is, due to its versatility and chromatic richness, the queen technique of the plastic arts. The oil painting course with Raúl Gil is not just a painting class, it is a deep immersion in the visual language of the subject. Under the guidance of one of the most respected artists on the current scene, you will learn to transform a blank canvas into a work with soul, depth and technical mastery.
What will you learn in this course?
The program is designed so that the student evolves from the basic fundamentals to the most advanced secrets of the pictorial tradition:
-
Preparation and Supports: We will understand the importance of the primer and how the texture of the support influences the final result of the brushstroke.
-
The Architecture of Color: You will learn to create an organized palette, avoiding dirty mixes. We will study color temperature and how to generate harmonies that give realism and atmosphere to your work.
-
Composition and Fitting: You will master the structure of the painting, learning to place the centers of interest and guide the viewer’s gaze.
-
Application Techniques: We will explore from the alla prima (wet on wet) for direct work, to the layering technique and glazes to achieve transparencies and luminosities impossible with other media.
-
The Domain of Light: We will work on chiaroscuro and shadow transition to give your figures and landscapes a three-dimensional volume.
Workshop Methodology and Dynamics
Raúl Gil believes in personalized teaching. Therefore, the course is developed in small groups where each student works on their individual project. The teacher supervises each stage step by step, making direct corrections and practical demonstrations that allow technical doubts to be resolved in real time.
The atmosphere in the Beatriz Seijo studio-store is one of creative exchange, designed to make you feel inspired and comfortable, regardless of whether it is your first contact with brushes or if you are already an experienced artist looking to perfect your style.
About the Master: Raúl Gil
With a consolidated career and a work that stands out for its exquisite treatment of light and contemporary realism, Raúl Gil provides the student not only with technique, but also with his vision of artistic sensitivity. Its pedagogical capacity allows complex concepts to be simplified, making it easier for the student to find their own pictorial voice.

Registration in our monthly disciplines ( Ceramics, Painting and Kids’ Creativity ) implies acceptance of these conditions, designed to guarantee the pedagogical quality and sustainability of our groups.
1. Enrolment and seat reservation
-
Registration and erolment: To guarantee your seat, it is required to pay the registration fee (a one-off payment of €50.00) and the first monthly instalment for the chosen course in advance.
-
Continuity: You will not be required to pay the enrolment fee again as long as you retain your place without interruption. In the event of voluntary withdrawal, any future re-enrolment will be subject to payment of the current enrolment fee.
-
Flexible Enrollment: If you join a group after the course has already started, you will be charged the registration fee and a pro-rata share of the remaining monthly fee, or the full monthly fee if you join at the start of the monthly period.
-
Cycle Renewal: Students who complete the school year and wish to continue in the next cycle will be exempt from paying enrolment fees.
-
Mobility: You can request a change of group or discipline during the year at no additional cost, as long as there are vacancies.
-
Priority Enrollment: At the end of the school year, we open a priority booking period for the following academic year. To confirm your seat, you will be required to pay the first monthly fee for the new course in advance.
2. Monthly Payments and Commitment to Attendance
-
Guaranteed Place: Monthly payments must be paid in full within the first 5 days of each month. As your place is reserved exclusively for you, the fee must be paid regardless of any occasional absences.
-
Management of Non-Payments: Failure to pay the monthly fee by the specified deadline will result in the automatic loss of your place and your removal from the workshop.
3. Cancellation and Unsubscription Policy
-
Early Cancellation: If you decide not to start the course after booking, you may request a Workshop Voucher for the amount of the monthly fee paid, provided you give at least 7 calendar days’ notice. The registration fee is non-refundable.
-
Voluntary Cancellation: To formalise a permanent cancellation, you must notify us before the 20th of the current month. Cancellations notified on or after the 21st will take effect the following month, meaning the full monthly fee for that month must be paid.
4. Organizational and Coexistence Commitments
-
Group Viability: The running of workshops is subject to a minimum number of participants. If this minimum is not reached, the school will refund 100% of the fees paid (enrolment fee and course fee).
-
Relocation due to Cancellation: If an existing group falls below the minimum number of students required for it to continue, students will be offered a seat on alternative timetables. If this is not possible or the student is not interested, a technical cancellation will be made without penalty and all charges will be stopped.
-
Right of Admission: To maintain a creative, safe and respectful working environment, the management reserves the right of admission. Any behaviour that seriously disrupts the harmony of the group will result in immediate expulsion without entitlement to a refund.
1. I have never painted or drawn, can I start from scratch?
Absolutely yes! We have a specific program designed for people who have never picked up a brush or pencil. Learning correctly from the base is the best way to advance quickly and avoid technical vices. You don’t need experience, just the desire to start.
The only way not to advance in painting is not to decide to take the first brush stroke.
2. I have painted on my own, how do I know what my level is?
In the workshop we do not work with watertight levels. The teacher observes your technique and knowledge from day one and proposes a learning process designed exclusively for you. We accompany you from wherever you are so that you continue to evolve at your own pace.
3. What materials do I have to bring to class?
The teachers will tell you what specific materials you need depending on the technique you want to develop. But don’t worry: you’ll start little by little. You will be surprised how simple the basic equipment is to start your training. These materials are not included in the tuition and/or monthly fees.
4. Can I buy the materials in the workshop?
Yes, we offer “Materials Packages” specific for the painting course. The advantage is that you save time and are sure that they are the correct and quality materials, avoiding the confusion generated by the wide variety of brands on the market. Of course, you also have the freedom to buy them wherever you prefer.
5. Can I leave my materials in the studio?
Yes. Most students prefer to leave their material in the workshop so as not to carry it with them and, above all, to avoid forgetting it at home on the day of class.
6. Is healthy paint used in the workshop?
For us, your health comes first. We select paints that have the ACMI certification (AP Seal). This means that they are toxicologically evaluated products that do not release harmful substances for you or the environment. Nurture your art with safe materials.
7. Can I join if the month has already started?
Of course. Any time of the year is perfect to start. If you join after the first class of the month, the fee will be adjusted proportionally to the number of sessions you attend in that starting month.
8. Do you do activities outside the studio?
As part of our annual activity, we usually schedule visits to museums or exhibitions. We come with our notebooks to generate dialogue about the works and enjoy the artistic experience in community.
